Digital economy to the real economy to reduce costs, improve efficiency, promote accurate matching of supply and demand, make the existing economic activity costs are lower, and new mode of new forms, and the cause of all sorts of high and new technology application of booming development, data exponentially, storage density is very difficult to satisfy the users for the growth of storage capacity. In this context, Inspur Information innovatively launched the NF5266M6 server with three-tier storage architecture, which realized the ultimate balance of computing, storage and IO, and pointed out the direction for the evolution of storage servers.
Recently, American top storage media StorageReview published a detailed evaluation of Wave information popular server model NF5266M6: "Wave information NF5266M6 Is a powerful, high-density storage server that delivers the additional bays customers have come to expect in the 2U size, good scalability, a wide range of configuration options, and stable performance for its intended applications." StorageReview is an old IT vertical media organization focusing on the storage field, which has a wide influence and audience in North America. It reports storage array, hard disk drive, SSD and related hardware and software based on storage solutions, and conducts professional product evaluation, which is well recognized by the industry.
For storage servers, heat dissipation is a major obstacle to increasing computing density. Limited chassis space also makes it difficult to balance storage capacity and computing performance. Wave server NF5266M6 creatively divides 24 front hot-swapable disk enclosures into three disk trays. Each tray contains eight hard disks for easy replacement of multiple hard disks. The hard drive sits in a drawer structure similar to a small shopping basket. The drawer has a unique handle that can be easily pulled out. The innovative 2U24-disk, three-layer pullout chassis architecture supports 26 3.5 hard disks and 468TB storage capacity in a 2U space (18TB for a single disk), effectively resolving the storage density limitations caused by heat dissipation, slot space, and space design.
In addition, Inspur high-density storage server NF5266M6, which is equipped with Inspur Cloud Sea hyperconverged software, has better performance. In the actual deployment test, Inspur configured three NF5266M6 servers with two Intel Xeon Gold 6330 cpus, 128GB RAM, two NVMe cache disks, and one 4TB SAS storage disk. The servers were interconnected over a 100Gbps Ethernet network. In this case, the hyper-converged distributed storage SuperX delivers 4K sequential read performance of 830,000 IOPS and 4K sequential write performance of 740,000 IOPS.
NF5266M6 supports multiple configuration modes. It supports a maximum of 7 PCIe slots, including 5 slimline x8 slots, and supports 2 rear 3.5-inch hard drives or 8 rear 2.5-inch hard drives. The configuration in the following figure is four 2.5-inch hard drives, two SATA drives, and two NVMe drives. Interestingly, Inspur also offers eight E1.S NVMe SSDS. This configuration opens up more possibilities because of the built-in HDD, and software-defined storage vendors will love this combination of flash and capacity. In addition, the NF5266M6 has a thoughtful design with two onboard M.2 slots, so users don't have to give up PCIe expansion slots or NVMe drives for boot storage.
In the future, high-density storage servers will play an even more important role. To this end, Inspur Information will continue to optimize and improve product functions, to empower thousands of industries.
